Valedictorian for my dental assistant protean
I need all the help I can get please. I need to submit a copy by the 16th and am very nervous and don't know how or where to start. Can you please help? I am a dental assistant and will be talking behalf of my fellow graduates as well as other members from different classes. It needs to be 3 minutes long
Below is an example speech which I hope you can use to create your final version. You’ll see, based on the information you gave, I have added what you MIGHT be able to say. Of course you will be able to put in the real detail and also your own wording. Using a personal story or two is good but you might want to think of a bit more on the other graduates. A 3 minute speech should use one quote, but I think the two quotes does seem to work. Anyway, give me your first reaction and we can see where we can make changes.
Principal ______, Honored guests ______, fellow graduates and families.
Congratulations to the Class of 2016. I am very proud to be one of you.
Today is a dream come true for all of our Class. Finally being graduates of a prestigious college and graduating with a valuable qualification is amazing!
For a long time, before I had the sense to enroll at our school, I moved from one job to another with no satisfaction at all. I suppose at the time I had low expectations and I told myself that I did not like the job so moving on was the right thing to do.
I did not have any worthwhile goals, however I do have a fantastic family who I love dearly. As I wandered around I wish I had come across the quote “Fear is going to be a player in your life, but you get to decide how much. You can spend your whole life imagining ghosts, worrying about your pathway to the future, but all there will ever be is what’s happening here, and the decisions we make in this moment, which are based in either love or fear. So many of us choose our path out of fear disguised as practicality. What we really want seems impossibly out of reach and ridiculous to expect, so we never dare to ask the universe for it.” By Jim Carrey. I would have realized that the power to make a good life was inside me. My fears need not hold me back.
By an enormous stroke of good fortune I had a feeling that a career where I helped people in a meaningful way would really suit me. In fact I felt totally excited about being involved in Dentistry. I started to believe that I would be very positive and gain a lot of job satisfaction in Dentistry. That is the case for all of the Class of 2016.
There is no point in just having a dream. I great quote is “It doesn’t matter that your dream came true if you spent you whole life sleeping. So get out there and go for it, but don’t be caught waiting. It’s great to plan for the future. Just don’t live there, because really nothing ever happens in the future. Whatever happens, happens now, so live your life where the action is - now.”
So, like everyone here I applied to get on the program and I cannot describe just how excited I was when my acceptance arrived in the post.
I think that excitement, a fear of failure and a real desire to be the best I could be at something I love drove me on to work exceptionally hard.
Let me thank the teaching staff here. Right from the start they have been excellent. We knew truthfully how hard we would have to work, how we were getting on and what we needed to do to improve. They have coached, guided and led us to success.
Thanks also to our wonderful, supportive families. Your love and patience have been the backbone of our success!
Looking around the Class of 2016 you will see a group of dedicated, professional, hard working graduates who are totally committed to doing everything they can to help their patients. The standards each person holds themselves to are the highest. It is a privilege to be a part of you.
What does Graduation Day mean? Well, to me it means that the hard work of the past has proved to be worthwhile. We have achieved a great qualification. We should take a moment to reflect on how special that is.
Graduation also means we can go out into the world of Dentistry ready to play our part. We can hold our heads high, knowing we can overcome challenges, and enjoy doing a very satisfying job.
We should be inspired to use graduation as just a start. Dentistry is an exciting and ever changing field. We have to do our best every day, find out how to be the best we can be, work hard and adopt new ideas as they arrive. We can learn all about our patients and find out how we can add extra value to our practices. That is the way we will keep our current enthusiasm, fun and satisfaction burning brightly for the rest of our careers.
Good luck to the Class of 2016.
