I have tried to give you lots of ideas on Superhero invitations, superhero food, superhero decorations, superhero costumes, superhero games and superhero favors which will be great for any venue. You may have a Home Party or alternative venue in mind for the Superhero party.

Hosting the Superhero graduation party in conjunction with the school, for example, is a brilliant idea. That gives:

• a good size of party with better decorations and a more eye catching Superhero venue to get the kids excited


• A budget, perhaps, to hire equipment, buy decorations and hire entertainers


• Parents to help organise, raise funds and help at the party

Graduation Superhero Party - Invitations

There are lots of great images to use to give invitations a real superhero party theme.

• Batman: Riddler, Mr Freeze, Joker (the amazing new joker in "Dark Knight"), Penguin

Brilliant ways to design the Superhero invitations is as the superheros emblem, a part of their character, the villain or newspaper articles. You could be very creative and cut out cartoon strips, blank out the speaking bubbles and write your own dialogue.

The Superhero emblem is the simplest and possibly best way.

For Batman, simply trace the bat shape with pointy ears onto cardboard and cut out the shape and holes for eyes. Color it black on one side. The invitation wording goes on the back of the card. The wording could be: KAPOW!! Gothenburg needs you. To save the city come to (Address, Date, Time) The Joker, Riddler and Penguin will be no match for your super powers. Send a message if you can help to (Tel No).

For Superman draw the outline of the superman emblem and use the graduates initial or the school initial instead of the S. Write the invitation wording on the back of the card. The wording can be: Come to (address) and foil Lex Luthors plan to destroy the earth. Let us know on (tel no) if you can help. Superman, we need you!!

For Spiderman draw a spider's web on the card and the invitation wording on the back. The wording can be: The Green Goblin has us in his power at (address), only you can save us. Save us on (date, time)Please let us know on (tel no) if you can save us.

For newspaper articles you can either spend some time cutting out the letters you need from a newspaper or use newspaper cuttings as a backdrop to the invitations. Use cardstock folded in half and put the invitation details on the inside. For example the front headline could be The Joker has escaped! On the inside you could have "calling all superheros to catch the evil Joker".

Clipart Superhero Party Invitations

The simplest way to complete graduation superhero party theme invitations is to use clipart.

• Copy and Past the Superhero graduation clip art image that you would like to use into your word document. Before you paste make sure your cursor is in the location where you want the clip art placed


• Click on the Superhero image and arrows will appear on the corners. Use these arrows to stretch the image to the desired size.


• Then I simply added wordart at the top of the page for a fancy title and added the party details in plain text underneath the graduation clip art.

Graduation Superhero Party - Food and Drink

For the party, the food and drink is fairly simple to do.

I always try and remember to balance providing a great selection of food with the fact that kids only eat so much and tend to go for what they like. A balance of presentation to ensure they eat healthy food and also to let them feel they did have a treat at the party!

Signpost the superheros healthy eating area. A great chance to get young children to eat healthy snacks.

• Superhero fruit area with all the fruit and berries you can muster up. I love bananas for this as they are neat and tidy once you have the skin in the bin.


• Superhero refill with carrots, celery, and any other vegetables you think the kids will eat. All done with a great message that this gives the heros their superpowers.


• Sandwiches cut in superhero shapes.


• Green Salad, which could be Riddler salad.


• Tuna salad fro the Penguin


• For treats red and blue M&Ms, candy with superhero labels on them.


• Ice Cream, from Mr Freeze


• Chocolate raisins

For the superhero drinks, it will be hot in the costumes so lots of water!!

Also mix superhero fruit drinks. Simple enough to make orange, blueberry, strawberry and blackberry drinks. Just mix ice, water and the berries, or fruit, in a blender. Strain the drink to take out the pulp.

Graduation Cake Decorating Idea

Firstly cover the cake in white frosting

The superhero party Cake it could be shaped or decorated as a superhero or his emblem. Bake a regular cake and frost it. Put a superhero emblem on it and add congratulations to the graduate. Or, for example, cut the cake into a bat shape. Apply icing in black and yellow for the emblem and add congratulations in white. Or, bake a cake and add KAPOW, BAM or POW in red and blue icing. Or Add yellow and red food coloring (individually) to the frosting and attempt to make the “S” for the superman symbol – see the clipart image displayed further up the page.

Graduation Superhero Party - Games

Active games are a must for any superhero party.

• Have a face painting and tattoos area to make sure the kids feel like real superheros.


• Trampoline (safely set up) so the kids can practice their superhero flying


• Leave clues on the ground such as penguin prints and question marks, which form a trail leading to the villain! Prizes for catching the villain


• Superhero party piece. Everyone has to tell a superhero joke, poem or sing a song. Make sure the parents get plenty of time to prepare their child


• Draw a superhero emblem on a T-shirt or paper. You can help the kids with templates and could make it a coloring in game! Just supply pens!


• Color in a huge mural size superhero emblem


• Design your own superhero emblem on papre, t-shirts or even card for placemats.


• Pass the Superhero. In teams the kids must pass a blow up version of a superhero. The superhero is passed over your head into the hands of the person behind you. Then you run to the end of the line. First team to pass it along their line 3 or 4 times, say, wins.


• Blindfold game. Put lots of items in a box. Blindfold the child and ask them to touch each item and say what it is. Pick items they will know. If they are old enough you could tell them their is an eye and brains in the box. Use half a tomato and spagetti. The suggestion will be enough for most to react when they touch the eye and brains.


• Superhero sprint races


• Superhero obstacle course. If you can set up hula hoops to jump into, tunnels to wriggle through, poles to jump over and lots more in a safe way, let the superheros show their stuff!


• Pin the emblem on the superhero, arrange a large picture of a superhero, pinned to a wall. Cut out and draw the superheros emblem, putting blue tack on the back.


• Mummy Game, have the superheros capture an adult villain in teams of 2 or 3. Then they must imprison the villain in toilet paper wrapped around the villain like a mummy, starting with the feet. First team to get up to the neck win.


• Balloon stomp, place 5 to 10 balloons in an area of the party and have the superheros stamp on them to burst them.

More graduation superhero theme ideas:

• Take photos and videos of everyone as they arrive posed against a city scape


• Dress the parents as the Press. They can take lots of photographs and interview the kids at the entrance


• There will be lots of gifts for the graduate. Thank You notes written by the graduate are the best!


• Write out rough timings for the party, including expected games times and when you want to serve the food


• The kids need some free time just to play, arrange activity areas where they can choose what to do, or just run around exploring the superhero party


• Stick to games the kids know, it can be too much to teach a new game


• Try to avoid games where some kids are out. An increasing number of bored kids will not help the party
