speech of a guest speaker to the high school graduation

by maricel
(philippines)

I'm a first batch in the high school and can you help me to make a very inspirational speech to the graduating students this coming year..

Of course, always happy to help someone brave enough to make a graduation speech!

Start with the material you have. If you want to make an inspirational speech it is always good to have inspirational material. The various sources can be inspirational quotes (with lots of them on our quotes page), think too of any inspirational stories that have occured at school. Has any teacher really inspired the students to achieve and what did they do. Has any student or group of students achieved very highly, achieved against the odds, or indeed achieved against real adversity. Is there some one outside the school sphere who is inspirationl, they can be a local or even international figure. For all of these inspirational people, what did they do, how did they carry themselves, how positive are they, and how inspired were you personally by them. Perhaps the students can help. Perhaps you have your own inspiring stories that will help the students to achieve.

Bring together your material and write up the speech in 3 parts.

The first part recognises the achievements of the past few years up to graduation. Work in your inspirational stories and pick out the learning points that can be used for the future.
It is a graduation speech so you should consider recognising all those who have helped the students including teachers, fellow students and parents.

The second part may focus on celebrating graduation and taking a moment to note that it is a time of transformation. The students will be saying goodbye to some friends, leaving behind the school world and starting out on new challenges.

The last part can deal with looking forward to the next set of challenges and using the inspirational learning points to great effect to make each person's future a very bright one.

If you wish I can look over your first draft and would of course be delighted if you would post your final speech on the site. Just complete another form adding in the speech and your instructions. I will be happy to help.

The best of luck to you.
