Quiet But Fun

by Jenny Farish
(New Jersey)

My plan is to go to the cinema or a Broadway Show and then go back to my house for a meal and quiet family evening.

There is no real restriction but my family and friends are pretty quiet and would prefer quieter graduation party ideas.

I have arranged a lunch at a local restaurant we like. They have agreed to decorate with balloons, streamers and confetti with party hats and blowers. They are friendly people and will take very good care of us.

Then into New York for the entertainment. My friends want to wear t-shirts with my photo on them but perhaps we can avoid that!

Afterwards we are going back to my home where my parents have a meal and some party games arranged. We will decorate the house beforehand.

My dad is hosting a quiz, and the games, and then we can just socialise together for the rest of the night.

This may seem pretty simple but I do feel very comfortable with it!

Some Further Ideas

I do love the quiet but fun idea. You have picked just the right party for the graduate and guests. I hope I can add some extra ideas to give your graduation party ideas a boost.

You can accessorize the invites with graduation cap confetti and a photo of the graduate. Your envelopes could have some graduation stickers on them too.

Decorations

It would be expected that you would have some pretty normal graduation decorations like a graduate tribute board, the graduate’s best memorabilia on display, the graduate’s videos and hopefully photos and items including friends and family. You can enjoy setting it up at the same time as the scrapbook perhaps. Also have a message book for good luck messages.

Perhaps some other ideas are to decorate the doors with mini banners on the graduate, think about how each room is set up and also to do things like decorate the graduate’s car with car chalk. Clearly if your group are a quieter group then you will only go so far here. However it is nice to have a few extra touches.

One very good set of decorations is at the pool if you have one. Safe decorations like floating candles and flowers would be good if no one is allowed to be in the pool at all. Setting up seating and tables around the pool lets you have quiet conservation and serve coffee and snacks there too.

Favors, perhaps can be quite personal in nature for this small group. You may have the budget to think about a beautiful, engraved pen or say an personal organiser bound in leather.

Finally, you could arrange some wonderful cakes for each person to both eat at the graduation party and take home. A quiet but fun party will benefit from those highlights when you present the cake, play a few simple games and present the favors

A great part I attended was for a quieter couple who had a joint party. The number of guests was 40 so the party had good size. The way it was set up allowed them to relax and be themselves.
They had other graduation party ideas in mind but realised they did not believe they could carry them off.

They booked an expensive hotel which was built in the 1850s and just was totally relaxing and filled with atmosphere. The service was very efficient but discrete.

The party was based in 2 beautiful rooms. They had just the right amount of decorations.

They had a Frank Sinatra act who was very friendly, an excellent performer and he joined in the party. He sang requests, talked to everyone and did three 45 minute sessions.

The buffet food was simple but excellently done.

Everyone was told they were just to relax, mix as much as they wanted, dance if they wanted, and drink what they wanted.

We all were very friendly and felt very much part of the family.

The singer arranged the speeches and hosted the cake cutting. He also had a few jokes about the couple.

Thinking back, they knew the people were friendly, fun and would mix. In the end that made it a great night.
