Kindergarten Balloon Party

by Mary Hardy
(USA)

The kindergarten kids were asked what they wanted for their graduation party. We put lots of graduation party ideas to them, asked them what they liked at a party, what were their favorite games and food.

The kids just love a local entertainer who a magician and has a kids act based on balloons. Henry (Mr Magic) agreed a small fee and he is booked.

We took that balloon magic theme for the decorations. Using the school gymnasium we will have lots of balloons, decorations, confetti and lots of magic symbols. The kindergarten are havng the kids decorate lots of balloons to use too.
The parents will transform the gym before the party and set up the small stage for Henry.

We may also hire a bouncy castle.

The invites are being styled as tickets to Henry's magic show!

The food is pretty basic. Sandwiches, fruit, small boxes of raisins, candy and a cake. Drinks are fruit smoothies and water.

We are having a graduation ceremony beforehand, with a photographer.

We are raising some extra money to cover costs.

The kids voted for pass the parcel, musical chairs, coloring in contest, tag, pin the tail on the donkey and limbo.

We have not yet arranged the favors but will try and find some child safe magic tricks, candy and maybe a pencil and notepad.

There are more exciting graduation party ideas. It all seems very simple but I do feel the kids are getting what they want.

I am sure the children will just love this kind of graduation party. They will love the colors and the fun of the balloons. Perhaps a few suggestions might help you :

The design of the invitations may be as important as the wording. A colourful design which includes a number of balloons is perfect. You might choose to include some graduation touches too like a cap and scroll. You can find colourful and appealing clip art to complete the task with full instruction on our graduation clip art page.

Decorations

Clearly the over riding thing is to have lots of balloons and include lots of color and appealing images for the kids.

  • Set out lots of balloons as an arch at the entrance to the kindergarten balloon party

  • Have balloons hanging from the ceiling, walls, light fittings and the back of chairs, and also on helpers.

  • Have the children decorate some balloons showing their interpretation of graduation and the party.

  • The party can have colourful gossamers hanging up to cover bare walls.

  • You can have balloons on the banners

  • You may be able to commission a mural with sketches of the kids or graduation images.

  • Use the kids art work as part of the decorations.

Games can be based on balloons, for example. You can play things like balloon volleyball and soccer.

Safety is vital at any party and that includes a kindergarten balloon party. One extra idea is to do simple things like pick up the pieces f burst balloons.

Favors can be the normal things like pens, pencils, coloring in, cake and candy. You may give some books too.
