Stephany Almonte Graduating Class of 2008
5th grade graduation ceremony(elementary)
Good morning ladies and gentlemen. My name is Stephany Almonte and I am in Ms. Rivera's class.
It is such a great opportunity to be up here on one of the most important days of my life, June 20th 2008, the day that could possibly change me forever.
My experience at this school, P.S 33, started 6 years back in Kindergarten. In Kindergarten I hated school because I didn't know much English, and that missing detail made school hard for me.
As the months went by I got better and better at my English, all because of my friends and teacher Ms. Semprit. It was the beginning of my journey.
In the fall I started school again, beginning first grade. I made my way through the year falling several times, but I always got up and kept walking again. All through 2nd and 3rd grade I was fascinated at being introduced to fractions, decimals, the human body and especially about the state tests in third grade (which I was not expecting). I was known as the Curious Leader.
When 4th grade came I thought it would be the easiest year ever. I was shocked and frustrated because I couldn't understand adding fractions, dividing and multiplying numbers. I almost gave up on believing in myself, but my admirable teacher and eager classmates helped me through it. My 4th grade year went by quickly, sometimes the times got rough I never gave up trying again.
In June I knew that 5th grade was around the corner. I was so excited, but when my 5th grade year really came I realized that I really didn't want to leave this school. This year has been one of a kind! It was a year of exploring new things and subjects, a year of making learning fun and asking questions nobody has ever heard before, a year of so many possibilities. This is a year I could never forget.
I used to think that my journey would stop here in 5th grade, but I was wrong. My journey will follow me everywhere I go, through school and life.
Well here I am, at my 5th grade graduation. 6 years ago I would have never imagined that I could go this far.
I want to take this last opportunity to thank all the people who have helped me through the beginning of my journey, the teachers, the students, my mother and father, the staff members, Ms. Santos and Mr. Castro.
I also want to say congratulations to the graduating class and remember when you put your mind to it you can accomplish anything.
Thank you!
