Graduation Speeches - Simple Advice
No matter who you are, or what the purpose of the graduation speeches is, giving the audience heartfelt graduation speeches written by you, with your own message and values clearly articulated is excellent. The audience will love it because it is by you and really from you.
We all really secretly admire any public speaker.
I was once a bit concerned about a work related speech to a new department I was leading with a few hundred people. I booked a meeting with them all to present my forward plan and detail my values and expectations. The best advice I received was from one of the teams. They told me it did not matter how bad I was they would love the fact I was prepared to give it a go, and was open and honest. Great advice for delivering graduation speeches.
Your graduation speeches may make you nervous but at least you are giving it a go.
Be positive, no one likes a negative speaker. Some of your peers may urge you to tell a few home truths but perhaps these so called truths are only real to them. Instead, graduation speeches should be positive, that gets your message across. In years to come you will feel very glad you did.

Graduation Speeches Themes
Great graduation speeches normally have a good central theme. The speaker can divert off but will always return to the theme. The theme anchors the speech and gives focus to the content.
The theme could simply be the school values.
Some good strong graduation speeches theme categories are:
- Importance of Goal Setting
- Taking responsibility for yourself and your actions
- Learning from your mistakes
- Overcoming obstacles
- Personal codes of conduct
- The power of perseverance
- Inspirational people or influences
- Keep on improving
- Never forget your roots and the people who have helped you
- The amazing opportunities the future holds

Graduation Speeches Delivery
So, now you have written a really good speech. You have checked it with a few people. Now some simple preparation steps will make your delivery live up to the great graduation speeches.
- Practice, Practice, Practice it out loud as many times as you can, and time yourself. Try it out on a positive group who can give great feedback.
- Visit the venue and be comfortable with your position. A lot easier to visualise yourself standing in position speaking eloquently.
- If using equipment practice with it. You do not want to be playin with the equipment on the day.
- Remember to speak slowly, we can all get a bit excited and rush it. The audience are here to hear you
- During your graduation speech keep eye contact with the audience
- Dress properly, looking sharp and feeling sharp can help
- If your speech is long break up your notes with highlighter pen. I put a big red dot if I am to pause briefly and a big green dot for a change of emphasis
- If you use visualising techniques for say a sport, you may want to try that out and visualise a successful speech with the audience clapping and cheering loudly. Recognise the successful feeling inside!
My more professional speaking friends always read from the script. For me I prefer notes with bullet points, unless the topic is unfamliar.
Graduation Speeches - To Learn From
Some graduation speeches can inspire you to deliver a very strong speech.
-
Inspirational Speeches
by Neil Postman and Steve Jobs are simply wonderful. They have brilliant, personal messages. These are not in any way meant to be copied. They are there to let you consider their message, style and impact. You can hopefully take inspiration from these graduation speeches. Have a look at your own speech and see if it can be improved.
- The Bill Gates Speech to Harvard.
contains lots of highly personal messages and a great insight into what he holds dear. Learn from the highly personal words and the way the speech is written. Good English in graduation speeches is essential!
- Famous Speeches demonstrate powerful messages.
You can take ideas from each of them.
Graduation Speeches Resources
Graduation speeches need some humor and some polish added. It is a long ceremony after all. Be sure the material you use is in line with the style of your graduation speeches. Choose wording to fit in like a glove.
- Graduation Jokes
- add a laugh to your speech. The audience will appreciate some light relief. Pick jokes that are inclusive. The humor must fit your style but there are plenty of jokes to choose from, some will fit any kind of graduation speeches!
- Funny Stories
- can add so much. The audience will appreciate some light relief. They will remember you well if you get the humor just right. Pick from lots of funny stories to get something suitable for your graduation speeches.
- Graduation Poems
- pick out the most pithy poem you can find. A great poem can make an audience spell bound and really back your message. They can give a real professional feel to your graduation speeches.
A Great example is the poem Nothing To Fear:
There's nothing to fear -
you're as good as the best,
As strong as the mightiest, too.
You can win in every battle or test;
For there's no one just like you.
- Graduation Quotes
- pick out quotes that drive home your key points and spice up your graduation speeches. My favorite is Malcolm Forbes “if at first you don’t succeed, try harder”. I think it recognises that perseverance is the engine room of success, which is a great topic for graduation speeches. There are lots of quotes to choose from. and give your graduation speeches the wow factor.
-
Professional Speech - perhaps you are a bit short of time or would find it better to have professional graduation speeches to work with. Click on the link for professional graduation speeches.
Graduation Speeches Further Resources
There are a few more resources for graduation speeches to leave you with.
Firstly a graduation toast:
Let's stand together
and toast the Grads,
after four years plus
their more than glad!
Accomplishments like this
deserve some praise,
so to the graduates,
our glasses we raise!
Some Graduation Facts for the parents listening to graduation speeches:
You know you've been out of college too long when.
- They have always had an answering machine.
- They have always had cable.
- They cannot fathom not having a remote control.
- Popcorn has always been cooked in the microwave.
- They never took a swim and thought about Jaws.
- They can't imagine what hard contact lenses are.
- They don't know who Mork was or where he was from.
- They do not care who shot J.R. and have no idea who J.R. even is.
- They don't have a clue how to use a typewriter.
- Do you feel old yet? I like to think of it as "wise".
Perhaps you can use this to engage the older members of the audience in your graduation speeches, but only if it fits. I know my own father loves self depricating humor and would laugh heartily at jokes about his age or waist size.
Some Short words from the graduate:
I would like to thank
my family, friends and
school faculty
for the wonderful memories
they have given me.
Graduation reminds me of everyone
who has touched my life.
The gift of their presence
and acknowledgement
is truly appreciated.
I hope they help you with your graduation speeches.
Open House Graduation Speeches
Just a simple speech for a parent to give at an open house party. You do need to thank everyone after all and most importantly a bit of lavish praise for the graduate is in order!
Let your enthusiasm and love shine through.

I am truly delighted to see so many friends and family at our daughter Katie’s graduation. Being with you all is a fantastic way to have a celebration.
Thanks to you all for being here!
For young Katie, whose great success in Graduating from University has allowed us to come together - congratulations Katie.
When you love your child as much as we love Katie the pride we feel in her success is quite amazing.
It has been a long journey with many highs and lows but she did it, WELL DONE.
Let us not forget those who have not enjoyed so much success at this time and be sure they are our valued friends. I admire how you have come to our home tonight to be with Katie - your time will come.
There is lots to eat, drink and enjoy. We may even get Katie to speak in public, who knows.
Once again, let me wish Katie all the best for her future which is surely filled with opportunity.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Good luck to you - believe me I admire and respect you for doing this. Let me offer you best wishes as you give your graduation speeches. Being original and following your own style makes great graduation speeches.
Once you have completed your speech you can proudly display the results of all your hard work here. Share it with others who are about to go through this great experience!
An Inspirational Letter From A Dad to A Graduate
One further thing, below is a copy of a letter to a graduate from the owner of the software I use for this site. Ken Evoy certainly has some key points and messages that you may wish to emulate in your graduation speeches.
Graduation Speeches need a clear message, flow, impact and good English.
June 22, 2005
Dear Nori,
You’ve come such a long way in such a short time. You have developed all the key skills to succeed in life, doing what you love….writing, maths, creativity, computers, self-motivation and discipline. (Getting up at 5:30AM for jogging and math tutoring, then getting the highest Math mark? Wow!).
And that brings us to the topic of “success”.
*********
On Success
*********
Only you can define “success,” Nori. Do not let others do it for you.
Simple needs and wants make for a simple life. You can spend your time on activities that reward you in ways that money could never deliver.
Greater desires and ambition mean that you will have to work, both smart and hard.
Lotteries are for suckers and no one will give you money. You EARN success. If you understand that, you are ahead of 80% of the adult world.
One definition of success is not better than the other. And there are, of course, millions of possibilities in between. It’s for you to define.
Graduating from high school is the end of the first part of your life, during which you did indeed acquire all the requisite abilities. Every end is also a beginning of a next phase of this unpredictable, exciting journey we call “LIFE”.
***********
Creating Dots
***********
The next phase, if used well and I have no doubt you will, is about creating dots. Do what you love, learn about everything with passion. Create enough of the right dots and you WILL connect them up later, in a way that works. You do not have to know what that connection is today.
And always remember….there is no schedule for life – this journey has no timetable. It’s not destined. Keep making dots, not just during CEGEP and university, but always. You will be forever connecting dots in new ways.
Nothing is “written.” You make your own writing by connecting those dots.
******
Passion
******
Earn money doing what you love. The goal is not the money. You are not rich because you own a Mercedes and a big house. What is wealth? It’s the independence to do what you want to do.
So start you young adult life by doing what you love doing. When you work on what you LOVE, it is not work. You are playing.
If you enjoy the ride, you are already free and independent.
*************
Time & Money
*************
Spend your time wisely. Prioritize well by multiplying URGENCY times IMPORTANCE. Too many people chase “urgency” while “importance” flattens them like a steamroller.
Remember…. time is the one resource in this world that is truly non-renewable. Once spent it cannot be regained.
Save money, at least 10% of what you make, from the first days you earn. Put the first thousand into Money Market Funds – that’s your liquid “Disaster Money.” Disasters do happen, unfortunately – they hurt less if you’re ready.
(Be optimistic.. but be prepared.)
After that the early dollars grow the most. Put much of those dollars into safe Stock Index Funds and real estate but only on obvious situations (such as Hirtles Beach, Anguilla). You are young – these both will grow your dollas over time. You’ll sleep well by keeping you investing simple.
When you have saved enough that your investments earn more than your expenses, you are (momentarily) free and independent. Of course, since you will have started “work” doing what you love, you will never know a day of non-freedom.
Don’t spend money on anything you don’t REALLY need. Purchases must give you big “profits.” Own things to use or enjoy them – their value to you must GREATLY exceed what the money was worth.
Avoid bad, needless purchases and especially harmful ones. Regular alcohol, drug or tobacco consumption are the worst purchases. Avoid. Don’t let people lead you down those wrong roads. Speaking of the people you meet in CEGEP…
******
People
******
Many will seem intimidating smart and “with it.” It’s all a show, Nori. Those same people, *If* all goes well for them, grow up living in big house, living from pay check to pay check beyond their means.
So don’t be impressed by others. Their “words” may at first impress you. In the long run, only actions count. Don’t give anyone more than a second chance.
Do not USE others. Treat others well until they prove to you that they do not deserve your time. You need others to reach your goals, but your dealings must be WIN-WIN or no one advances. Not everyone lives by this code, Nori, and you will be cheated. Learn from it so that it does not happen a second time.
Look for REAL people… and stick with them. Strong alliances are a joy. And so are mentors. The right mentor can help you enormously – find your first in college. Mentors become lifelong friends even when they no longer mentor.
And your never too old to have a mentor (look at me and Bob!) because there is always someone who is older and smarter than you. Look for ways to repay that person. Sooner or later, it will come.
******
Be You
******
Nori, you can’t control how others present themselves. But manage YOURSELF well – make a good presentation of yourself, but don’t “stress to impress.”
Be yourself. By being yourself, you attract thoe who like you… for YOU. And that is triply important for matters of the heart….
Find someone to deeply love. I could not imagine life without your mother. I could not breathe without her. You must risk rejection to explore those possibilities and give nice, smart clear-eyed guys enough “signals” so that they, too, have less fear of rejection. We males fear it worse than females.
And remember… rejection is merely a fit that did not happen. It’s why you should never be on your “best behaviour” when dating. Just be you. It takes the pressure off. The goal is not to force a fit. It’s to see if one is there.
********************
Persistence & Change
********************
Stick with projects if you believe I them. MAKE then work. Passion and persistence are the strongest forces you have. And yet, paradoxically……
Nothing lasts forever, not for any single project. Your interests may grow and change as you grow and change. Remember… There is no schedule for life. So never think you have it all worked out.
No one does.
**************
My Best To You
**************
Nori, I hope these word survive with you forever. It’s the best I can give you after 51 years on this planet.
I hope this guides you well as you move from being an “old child” to a “young adult” as you learn, grow and follow your passions through college, university and adulthood. And remember……
Once you have found success (however you chose to define that), give something back. Once you have more than you need, give to those who need it, to whatever cause makes YOU feel the best for leaving the world a better place.
Love always,
Dad
P.S. Have you noticed that I did not suggest to “be happy”? This is the first place that word appears. And that is because “happiness happens” not because you want it, but because you live your life to the fullest, free every day.
There is so much geat advice in these words. Graduation Speeches can use pieces of the advice!
Also note just how much better graduation speeches are with personal messages.

Thank You Principal Cellini.
I am honoured to be here today at this beautiful campus. I spent years admiring the mountain backdrop and the gorgeous lake when I was student here.
CONGRATULATIONS GRADUATES OF GLASTON COLLEGE!!!!
My purpose in speaking to you today is to recognise the fantastic achievements you have ALL made In graduating. I wish also to look to the future and see where this journey through life can take you.
All of you have made your own life successfully so far with an outstanding contribution from the college staff. That is something to be very grateful for. From here on you get to use the fantastic skills you have learned but it is up to you to make the absolute best of your future endeavours.
I still remember graduating although it was 20 years ago.
I felt full of unstoppable joy and optimism. I loved so many friends, I was sad to say goodbye, but I was also just so ready to take on the next challenge.
I SEE THAT SAME BURSTING ENTHUSIASM IN THE GRADUATES HERE - I HOPE THE WORLD IS READY FOR YOU!!
You have all now achieved what you were born to do - SUCCESS.
You have a wonderful , powerful, amazing tool at your disposal. There is nothing that can compare to it. It is many, many times more powerful than any computer. Most use only 2% of it.
By this I mean your brain.
Your brain if properly nurtured, challenged, fed and watered will propel you through a lifetime of success.
So how can you drive forward to a successful future using this mega computer.
First, your brain needs knowledge as much as food. You can learn awesome amounts of stuff if you do it well and are committed. Great if you are doing what you LOVE!
Your brain forms little neural pathways as you learn new knowledge, adding to what you know, and grows like a muscle.
Imagine being really keen on your task, or job, and just locking this amazing learning power on the subject. You will be unstoppable.
Also your brain is born to persevere. It can keep going and never give up on a goal.
Perseverance is the engine room of success.
Amazingly you can persevere brilliantly.
Add this power of perseverance to awesome learning potential plus a goal you are committed to in an area you juts love and you are on the way to fantastic success.
Your brain loves to tell the truth. Hard to imagine when you consider politicians but it is true.
Have you ever said you‘ll meet , or been given, a goal that you did not believe you could do.
Either something has to happen to prove you wrong or your brain will keep saying this is not happening. Your motivation is low, learning poor and negativity prevails.
Better to set a positive, challenging and achievable goal. As you go you can adjust the goal upwards.
Maintaining the College Values of Integrity will keep your mind at peace and focussed on achieving.
Again imagine you love the topic, you believe in the goal, you know you will persevere and be absolutely excited about learning. How unstoppable would you be then.
Everyday you woke up you would have a real zest for life and the challenges you face.
But there is more, as I have already said you are born to succeed.
As you succeed you feel fantastic, your energy levels rise and you seem physically and mentally better.
Each success spurs you on to more and more success.
But, what do you say if things go wrong. Well I don’t see it that way. I see only a trial with and event and feedback. Get you mind to work on adjusting your approach and go again!
Thomas Watson, of IBM fame, said - If you want to succeed, double your failure rate.
So now imagine you have a real commitment to a great job, a series of very challenging but achievable goals broken down into regular deliverables, you love learning everything required, you persevere and are achieving each goal as you wanted.
Just how unstoppable would you be then!
My message is, you have everything you need to succeed. You can look forward to an outstanding future by using your brain as intended. You need not fear the future.
Congratulations and Best Wishes to all of you for the future.
Graduation speeches by Guest Speakers are a chance to make a very positive statement and inspire the graduates for the future. Graduation speeches will be filed forever in the school's files so be proud and make your graduation speeches good one!!

CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2008
As you know I am Principal of Hartley College and I am very, very proud to say I too am a Graduate of Hartley High School.
I was educated here at Hartley High, mentored here and played Football here. I great time in my life.
I salute your outstanding efforts, graduation is a wonderful day! I hope you make the most of it.
Just think for a moment about the wonderful things you have learned.
You have learned wonderful subjects like math, English, Art and Design. No just to make you work hard, but to test your interests, see if you have special aptitudes and to test your brain in a rounded way.
You learned to socialise with your peers, how to survive the playground, how to avoid bullying, but mostly how to interact efficiently with people.
You learned to look after yourself, at times separate from your parents, think about your own future, and many of you have Saturday jobs to earn money.
Hartley High places a lot of emphasis on the world around you:
- Locally many of you have been active in helping charities and seniors.
- Internationally the School takes part in Aid work and awareness programs are in action.
So why do all of this?
Firstly and importantly today you can wildly celebrate your success. I hope the party is brilliant.
Also, you are now at that point where you need a broad and also focussed range of personal skills to survive and posper.
Positively each of you can achieve everything you are passionate about.
So first you need to know what you really want to do. Many of you do and many don’t.
If you do, Go For It.
If you don’t, don’t worry, arrange something challenging at say a college course that will keep you moving forward, and sharpen your mind.
Next you need to be able to survive away from home.
Think of how a positive, strong group will help at college. We take a lot of pride in our mentoring and assistance at Hartley College.
Think of eating well, keeping fit and loving life.
How will you study, succeed and keep moving forward?
I think from personal experience that Hartley High has given you many of the skills you need.
The teachers, support staff, Principal and the education standards get you ready for a successful future.
As a bit of an advert for Hartley College, let me say that those of you who join us do succeed with above average grades, seem more rounded and indeed determined to succeed.
So be proud of yourself, have a great day and be confident that you can handle the next steps.

Just look at the wonderful kindergarten graduates - congratulations class of 2008!!
You are a magnificent group of children.
Thanks to each of you for making our lives fantastic. Just to be involved wit Jack, Mary, Ryan, Holly, Sophie, Jackie, Scott, Allan, Ellie, Jessica, Bruce, Abbie, Emelia and Wilf is a rare delight!!
I look out at you wonderful children and have to remind myself just how young you are. You have achieved so much in such a short space of time.
Your achievements are excellence in numbers, shapes, letters, words, awareness of the environment and the kindergarten. You also give a lot to each other. I am amazed at the maturity you all show - well done!!
Thanks to the outstanding teaching staff. Without you the children would be ill prepared for those next crucial steps. Take a bow Ayesha, Laura. Harriet and Freda.
I looked into your kindergarten room yesterday. You should all be very proud of your paintings, drawings photographs and creative learning. I am sure every single mum and dad will be fairly emotional seeing your work.
One great thing I did notice was the spaceship you all made together.
I know your theme was about reaching up high and exploring what is out in space.
A spaceship was once only a dream a person had. It came true and let people make heir own dreams come true.
I hope each of you have a dream. Does anyone have a dream, shout them out.
(allow some positive interaction) All of your dreams are fantastic.
Remember if you have a dream then your dreams can come true. I hope each of you just loves the next steps in your life. School will be great and you are all very well prepared.
I am sure you will all reach the stars!!
Good luck and well done!!

Principal Strain, Civic Dignitaries, Holmes, Nelson and Farr
First off, congratulations to the Class of 2008.
We are graduating today and I feel very proud to be part of The Given High team.
We are undeniably from a less privileged area than many others. In fact Social Economic studies tell us that we are in the bottom 20%.
I know there are some challenges in our school funding and we have to make do without some materials.
I know we all face some issues in our neighbourhood with safety.
However, I know more than anything we are proud to be from Givens and are very proud to be graduating from our High School.
There are lessons for everyone in how Givens has brought us up, treated us, educated us and given us respect for ourselves, and each other.
For example, I expected to attend math class, perhaps not everyday, and just put my time in till I could leave.
Was I wrong!
There I ran into the most polite little lady, Mrs Carr. I thought she would be soft and not keep discipline.
Was I wrong!
If ever there is a teacher who showed leadership, grit, determination, all done in a polite way, it is Mrs Carr.
She has pulled every imaginable trick to get us at first interested in Math, then good at it and now excellent graduates.
Why would she care -- well she just does.
We were all inspired by how our forefathers were great mathematicians.
She proved we had a gift.
She showed we could pass tests.
When we were going off track she came to our homes and taught us what we had missed.
All on a teachers pay - staggering!
From Mrs Carr I have learned :-
There is good in all of us.
Believe you can do most anything.
Persist and you will break through the mental barriers that you yourself erect. Those barriers stop you learning.
Once you achieve build on that success time and again. Success is an adrenaline fuelled ride to the top!
If you had to ask me what I would aspire to when I left High School before Mrs Carr I would have said I don’t think it will amount to much.
Now like many graduates I have the belief, skills, persistence, and desire to go for further education.
I will be learning to be a Math professor, that is my dream!
For me education has been my salvation.
In the future I hope to give others the opportunity to do the same.
Thank You Mrs Carr.
Also big thanks to our Principal and the fearless fund raising team.
Thank you to all the teaching staff.
Thank you to everyone here for your support on our journey together.
I will always be a child of our neighbourhood, so please keep in touch!
For the future I would say get out there, keep learning and believe you can achieve.
Your journey has just begun.
I leave you with a quote By Ruth Westheimers :
My favorite animal is the turtle.
The reason is that in order for the turtle to move, it has to stick its neck out.
There are going to be times in your life when you’re going to have to stick your neck out.
There will be challenges and instead of hiding in a shell, you have to go out and meet them!
Best of Luck
Remember your student graduation speeches will be filed in school records so make it a good one!
Graduation speeches with this personal touch can be good, as long as delivery is strong. Graduation speeches are a great chance to inspire the audience.
Principal Graduation Speeches Honor To Have Been Here
Graduation Speeches with a formal opening are probably best unless you have a real drive to be different and can carry it off.
Title: An Honor To Have Been Here
Faculty members, Mrs Hamilton, Mrs Cuello, Mr Stadt and Fund Raising Team
Congratulations Class Of 2008!!!
Welcome to all of you to our graduation ceremony. This is a wonderful, special day in the lives of the students and a proud and very emotional day for the rest of us.
First off, thanks to all of for attending this special day.
For the students graduation is fitting recognition for everything they have worked so hard to achieve. The journey is not always smooth. We see everyday the struggle, the perseverance and the successes that each of you goes through. It is at times wonderful and others awe inspiring.
We make no apology for setting high standards at Bailey College. This is a tough place to achieve results in. We take enormous pride in the feedback we get from employers and further education institutions as to the high quality of our graduates.
You should all be very proud.
I know at close hand the quality and efforts of my teaching staff. They are a dedicated group of professionals. The hard work starts with them. They seem to have a sixth sense as to when to help a student and when to let them work alone. They work hard everyday to improve their professional standards and to put more into each student.
Every year we raise the bar on teaching standards and every year the teaching staff surpass anything I could expect. This dedicated team work long hours and live and breath the successes of their students.
I have loved working with them, their fun, enthusiasm and passion have rubbed off on all of us.
Thanks to the fund raising team. What an amazing amount of money has been raised. We asked for $150,000 and they raised $210,000. Quite amazing.
Many of you parents have been asked for money and quite amazingly you have contributed so much. Thanks again!!
This year’s big project has been improved interactive teaching aids. That has been hugely successfully implemented.
Thanks to the support staff in IT, Maintenance and Security.
Our computers have worked bug free everyday, despite some of my best efforts to break them!
Our buildings and grounds are always open for teaching.
Our Security has been effective and discreet. Looking at Marven would you like to try and get past him? Probably not.
That all brings me to Graduation Day. That celebration of all that is great in the lives of our students. It is a brilliant day for the students and staff. I know all about the students party. The big sectret is the staff party. Worst behaved group you will ever see!
This is also my last day at Bailey and the last of my graduation speeches.
You can only begin to imagine how hard that was for me to say. I have loved everyday of my last 20 years here!. The emotion attached to today is quite overwhelming.
For the future I have been asked to work with the State education department. I will be working with each college to set and improve standards. My model is right here!
So, good luck to all of you!
You will be embarking on careers, further education, professional and business pursuits. I know you will do well!
I hope you remember your time here very fondly. I am sure the fund raising team will be calling on you soon!
It has been an honor to be here and an honor to work with each and very one of you.
Good luck!
For any Principal, graduation speeches are a brilliant opportunity to make sure everyone feel properly appreciated and to send the graduates off out into the world with good wishes, or an important message. Graduation speeches can also be fun if you have the personality to carry it off.
Student Graduation Speeches Based On Words Of A Song
Graduation Speeches with a formal opening are probably best unless you have a real drive to be different and can carry it off. Graduation speeches with quotes, songs or verses can have the wow factor.
Principal Hughes, Faculty Members, Honored Guests, Students, Families and Friends
Congratulations Class Of 2008 - You Are Stars
I feel a sense of both Calm and Urgency today.
The calm I think comes from the finality of years of hard work with a successful result. I have never seen myself as naturally gifted, just a very hard working student.
I have to thank all those who have helped me along the way, you have been awesome.
I must thank my teachers, coaches and mentors. You have all been supportive, creative and intelligent in your methods. That has made an outstanding difference.
I must pick out Mr Cain, without you I would not have known how to study effectively and would not have learned to positively approach my work. Thank you sir!
I also want to thank our families. My own family have made a huge effort to love, support and give me the funds I needed. I love you guys!
Thanks too, to our Librarians, IT staff, maintenance and everyone else associated with our High School.
So after all this amazing effort I find myself here, calm, graduating. Well, no one is entirely calm giving graduation speeches.
It is a calm euphoric feeling, probably all ready for a real blast of a party tonight.
So why the sense of calm and urgency?
To quote the very well known Vitamin C graduation song:
And so we talked all night about the rest of our lives
Where we're gonna be when we turn 25
I keep thinking times will never change
Keep on thinking things will always be the same
But when we leave this year we won't be coming back
No more hanging out cause we're on a different track
And if you got something that you need to say
You better say it right now cause you don't have another day
So, today may be the last time I see many of you. I will miss all of you, not just for your contribution, but really I will miss who you are as people. Although we are young I think in this last year we have come to know each other as more rounded people who have a lot to offer.
As we all head off to college or new lives, perhaps away from home I hope we keep in touch,
We will still have many of the same issues:
Needing money
Needing support
Needing great teachers
Needing love
We just need to have faith and I am sure everything will work out OK.
Part of that belief is in each other.
You are an amazing group of students and I really believe we are a group worth keeping together.
So, when we are all over our heads with study, deadlines and personal worries - remember it is people that count. They will make the impossible seem possible, reassure you, help you and love you.
Just e-mail or phone and you will find what you need!
That brings me to my sense of urgency.
I am in a real rush to make sure I get details from you all and a commitment to stay in touch.
So my message is to take this great graduation day and relax into the full celebration. Enjoy it.
Don’t let the future drift into our lives and a reunion some 20 years later be the next time we speak!
Take action today to keep in touch!!
Good Luck
Student graduation speeches with this friends forever message can be very powerful. The emotion of the occassion is perfectly captured by these kind of graduation speeches.

Principal Sandolini, Faculty members, Mr Novo, Mrs Deschamp, Students and Families
Congratulations Class of 2008
I am honoured to be speaking to you all on a very special graduation day. It is a privilege to be here amongst a very talented group of students, teachers and the proud families.
When Mr Sandolini phones and asked if I did graduation speeches I was excited, honored and a bit apprehensive. I wanted to be able to give you a message of hope for the future and help celebrate your fantastic achievements.
I know your Principal very well and know him to be on fire with ideas and excitement. That gave me my topic.
Many years ago each family probably started to talk to their child about learning and how it would be a great thing to do.
Over the years your approach would have changed from charging round your house looking for things that started with an a and on to playing counting games and finally to relying on teachers as you did not actually understand what the subject was about.
For the students you should be very grateful your families put a little spark into your education. What a great start.
The teaching staff then took over the baton. They have used all their skills, and enthusiasm to further fan the flames of your education. They have taught, supported, mentored and coached you through to this wonderful graduation day.
Along the way your fellow students will have helped you individually and in study groups. For some they will have competed with you and given you a desire to be competitive and win.
The there is yourself. Many of you will naturally have a burning desire to do well, others just need a chance to set it free. That has brought you successfully to graduation.
Altogether the flames have taken hold and you now have a burning fire of desire.
Well done again, I hope your day is one to remember.
But please let me appeal to you.
Don’t let the feeling of success and the party nights, which you richly deserve, dampen your fire.
Instead you must stoke the fire of your desire ever higher.
What better way to approach the future than to be on fire with desire.
Imagine starting your college with enormous passion. You are burning to do well, take on all challenges and you can’t wait to get going.
What a fabulous way to approach all of your life. Let me leave you with the words of the Audio Adrenaline Song Start A Fire:
Like a city on a hill, we can light up the horizon
For miles and miles and miles - you can see the smoke is risin'
So go ahead and light the sky like a bonfire in the night
Let the fire keep burnin' hard - it can never be too bright
It only takes a little spark to get a fire goin'
I know the fire is in your heart, so go ahead and show it
Good Luck To All Of You

Principal Shultz, Mrs Lodz, Mrs Desailly, Mrs Crenshaw, Students and Families.
Congratulations Class of 2008.
I am very honoured and grateful to Principal Shultz for giving me this opportunity to take part in this years' graduation speeches. This college is set amidst the most beautiful surroundings. I am sure it has been a great pleasure to have been a student here and also to teach here!
I have no doubt in my mind that you are a highly motivated and talented group of young people. You have now added great success to build on.
Perhaps without meaning to, many of you left home with a very Big Dream - that was to graduate from college. You may look back and think it was not really a big choice on your part, perhaps you just did the most obvious thing, followed friends or even family.
Nonetheless you came here and the big dream materialised bit by bit.
I understand along the way you have been very well taught, coached and mentored. You have also been expected to raise your game to the highest of standards.
Now, here you are on graduation day, ready to face the next most important steps in your life.
I say again, congratulations on your achievement. You are amazing!
Many of you will already have chosen a profession, further education, careers or even a gap year.
I would urge each of you to use what you have learned here to realise a big dream, a passionate dream, one which will get you out of bed totally fired up and ready to go each and every day.
Coming to college, your big dream probably emerged as you progressed. I am sure none of you imagined your graduation day on your first morning. Many of you would see it more clearly in your mind as time went by.
But now you are in command of your future. You do need to have a big dream to guide your thoughts and actions.
If there were ever a time to dare,
To make a difference
To embark on something worth doing
It is now.
Not for any grand cause, necessarily –
But for something that tugs at your hear
Something that is worth your aspiration
Something that is your dream.
You owe it to yourself
To make your days count.
Have fun. Dig deep. Stretch.
To realise your big dream you must use what you have learned here at college.
1. Set the highest standards for yourself, don’t fall short you will always regret it.
2. Find the right teachers, mentors and coaches.
These must be people who have the highest achievements, highest standards, and highest integrity. You may not always like what they say, but you will benefit enormously from it.
3. Work hard, as hard as you possibly can.
I know that later in life everyone who is still thinking wishes they had dared to dream big, and worked hard to realise that dream.
There is no doubt that you can do it.
In my business we have a number of graduates from this college, I hope we get more. You all do very well!
Graduation speeches do need a message. So, dream big, set high standards and work your hardest.
Good luck to each of you, you are an amazing group!
Graduation speeches with a clear message and a good quote or poem can leave a good impression.
The next of the graduation speeches is about inspirational people. The idea is to use graduation speeches to inspire the students for the future.

Principal Hamilton, Honored Guests, Fund Raising Team, Students and Families
Congratulations Class of 2008.
I am inspired to be with a talented group such as yours. I can assure you, your group are successful and a joy to be with. I had the privilege of meeting some of you last night and I was very impressed by their positive state of mind and ambitions for the future.
I am also inspired by a number of people who, although I have not met all of them, have helped me enormously to become successful in business.
The skills I look for are Leadership, Positive Mindset, Financial, Relationships and Fun!
Looking back on my time here I was inspired by Mrs Logan, Mr Kovic, and Mrs Lyon. I also loved Michael Jordan.
I believe this group helped me to believe in myself, work hard, learn well, form working relationships with my teachers, tech me well, and coach me to success.
I very much hope you have been inspired by the beautiful college surroundings, and also the tremendous teaching staff.
I know your Principal well and I understand just how much he drives the whole college to achieve.
Now you find yourself at a graduation day hopefully having the time of your life. Well Done again.
Looking ahead you now need to contemplate a fantastic life away from this great institution. You probably already know there will be a sense of being more on your own. You must do it alone now.
Well, perhaps you don’t. I urge you to find a new set of inspirational people to study, spend time with and learn from. This group can
Set a benchmark for your work performance.
Set standards for your Leadership
Be a positive role model
Keep you focussed on what is important
Keep you motivated
Inspire you to reach higher
Help you have quieter family moments that are magical.
If I asked you if you could achieve these aims by yourself I would hope you would say yes to some but not all of them.
By learning from the best in any field you can master that skill. Modelling the best cuts down the time to learn and succeed.
This is not to take away who you are. This is very much to put your own slant on things and very much enhance who you are.
Just for the record my inspirational group are:
Michael Jordan, Tony Robbins, Andrew Carnegie, Leo Buscaglia and Oprah Winfrey.
All of them have lots written about them and by them. I have studies their approach, listened to tapes, read their books and watched them on TV. I feel I know them.
They have helped me many, many times over the years by thinking through how they may approach a problem or start a new venture.
I hope you take the time to create a group of inspirational figures who help you. They can help you achieve your dreams!
Good Luck!
Good luck with your graduation speeches! Graduation speeches can be the most rewarding experience.
