• Vacation basket, with sunglasses, suncream, sun visor, vacation reading books, swimwear, towels and a t-shirt.


• Car lovers basket with a car wax, car wash soap, drying leather, sponges, and lots of other car care products.


• Sports basket with a water bottle, towel, sports candies, sports drinks, sweat bands and clothing or equipment relating to the sport. Also shower accessories like soap and shampoo.


• New home basket with a selection of towels, ornaments, laundry items, bathroom items, scents, candles, food and kitchen utensils, for example


• Cake makers basket with cake pans, recipe books, cake toppers, cake ingredients, icing and fondant. Perhaps you can also include a completed cake or cupcakes for a treat.

When filling the graduation gift basket think of quality rather than quantity and choose things carefully that will suit the graduate.

Obviously you need to buy a basket the right size of basket. I prefer to source where I can find a selection of nice graduation gift baskets. However, it is wise to buy the gifts first then choose the most appropriate size of basket. Use some shredded tissue paper to display the gifts in and a special ribbon bow to finish off the look. Don’t forget a gift card revealing how proud and happy you are for the graduate – this is not a time to hold back on your feelings.

Remember, they are not only suitable for the graduate they are also nice to give to the host of the graduation party. If you are the graduate then perhaps your mum (sorry dads) deserves a graduation basket containing her favourite chocolates, a book by her favourite author, some nice toiletries etc. It’s a nice way of letting her know that you appreciate all her hard work.

Similarly for the teacher a graduation gift basket could be highly prized. The basket would be any of the ones described or could be a mix of a few. You could include some pretzles, coffee beans, coffee mug, books, tea, cake, cookies and flowers.

A college survival kit is a great graduation gift basket. You can include most of the things that are needed. That could be t-shirts, laundry items, food, coffee, coffee mug, pizza gift certificates, DVDs, phone cards, college survival books and candy.

I love making up a graduation gift basket and I think a graduation gift basket demonstrates a lot of effort has gone into choosing everything.
