Obviously you could just print your grad invitations and complete them by hand, however,
you could also choose to partially (everything but the name of the person being
invited) or completely personalize them using the instructions below:
How to Personalize Your Grad Invitations
- Create a text
box that completely covers all the wording you want to replace. NB. If
you need to use precision when placing your text box then press CTRL &
the Up and Down keys.
- Enter your own customized wording in the text box.
- Please note - you can type the names of those you are inviting on each invite
and print them separately (or even do a mail merge if your a computer whiz)
but if you choose to handwrite those you are inviting on your invitations
then I'd recommend a calligraphy set - www.joann.com a lovely "Zig Calligraphy"
set.
How to Print your Grad Invitations
- Open a word document.
- Set the printer to the desired paper size.
- Insert the image.
- Adjust the margins to zero.
- Adjust the image to cover the full size of the paper. Do this by clicking
on the image and dragging one of the corner arrows.
- To ensure everything looks just right go to File, Print Preview.
- Print a "cut to size" test sheet to be certain that the font,
font size and placement of your message will be as you desire. Make any necessary
adjustments, then print your invitations.
Tip - Mark an X on one side of the test sheet prior to printing. This will
help you determine which way up to place the invitation in the printer.
Make Your Own Grad Invitations
Making your own grad invitations with your special design does give highly personalized invitations. You know the graduate and can:
- Choose colors that suit the graduate, perhaps their favorites.
- Select cllipart images to add which capture the spirit of the graduate. That can be anything from a traditional scroll or even a smiley face.
The simplest process is:
- Open a new doc in your word processing tool and set up the page size - choose
File and Page setup.
- Now right-click your mouse over the clipart (instructions below) you’d like to use and
select “copy”. Now place your curser on the area where you want
the clipart to go and right-click and select “paste” to add the
clipart to your doc.
- Lastly, add some text and use some word art as well to personalise it.
The free printable grad invitations here took me about 5 minutes using "Microsoft Word" and "Paint" which you may well have on your PC.
For a large selection of clipart and full instruction on exactly what to do see
the clipart page.
Using clipart you can make Border envelopes, Border favor tags, Border place cards, Border party hats, Border game certificates, Border T-shirts, and Border save the date fridge magnets.
Grad Invitations Paper
There are many colors and types of paper from white printer paper up to expensive textured papers.
The graduation paper you choose will depend on:
- Your budget.
- The color of paper that you wish. White ideally suits the Border design. However a contrasting color would be great too.
- The thickness, or quality feel, you require. Perhaps your invites need to be strong or you just like the overall presentation that quality paper gives.
I like to use white cardstock for Borders designs.
The graduation paper page gives all the options you need.
The same paper can be used for Border style thank you notes, Border place cards and Border announcements.
Grad Invitations Wording
Borders are a classic design.
You may wish your wording to be formal and correct. To be sure you have the right wording see the invitation etiquette page.
Of course you may just want to have fun with the wording!
You could use:
- Make a joke about the graduate.
- Use the words of a song or poem.
- Use a graduation quote.
Whatever you decide I hope you create some great wording for the graduation invitations.
