Cooking Party

My girl friends and I just love to cook. We will be graduating from college this year and our graduation party ideas were a theatre night, a cooking party and a house party.
One of the families has an enormous house with huge kitchen so we have opted for a cooking evening for close friends and family. The whole evening will be captured on video.
Costume is to be as cooks.
The invites will be in the form of a recipe. Great guests, great food, good drinks and gorgeous venue at (time/date/venue) is a recipe for a great graduation party!
Lots of usual graduation party ideas decorations with balloons, streamers, banners and confetti. The plan is an Italian theme so the table centerpiece will be pasta and olive oil.
Also lots of graduates photos and hopefully we can get some dressed as cooks!
The meal is to be a bit unusual. We are splitting into teams to cook a starter and main course, all Italian food. We have lots of recipes ready to choose from. There will be 4 teams. There will be lots of fun and a real competitive edge. There is a meal at a local Italian for each of the winning team.
The meals will be put on the table and we will all sit down and taste some of each dish. This will be a traditional friends and family Italian style gathering with good food, wine and drinks, and lots of talking late into he night. My friends and I plan to make a graduation cake beforehand to eat at the party with coffee.
We will vote for the best meal afterward!
Not sure yet about favors. Also we may opt to play some games at the table.
Additional Ideas
The cooking party idea is great in lots of ways. The graduate and your guests may be very keen cooks. It may be great fun for them to for them to take part in a cooking party. I hope to give you some further suggestions.

You might accessorize the envelopes with little chef’s hats. You may be able to find some cooking themed stickers.
Decorations can simply be a combination of cooking and graduation. The simple graduation things are:
- The graduate‘s photo tribute
- Display the graduate‘s memorabilia
- use graduation themed banners, banners and tinsel in school colors.
The next thing is to set out the cooking things:
- Set up cooking workstations for each chef with the cooking utensils and ingredients they need.
- At the entrance you may be able to display a giant chef‘s hat
- Around the venue have displays of cooking utensils and recipe books
- Display posters of famous chefs and their signature dishes.
- Show a cooking TV show on a large screen
Favors can be recipe books, ingredients and cooking utensils.
Of course you might choose to have a themed cooking party like an Italian theme. This would focus your attention and help you give the right look and feel at your cooking party.
