Australian BBQ

by Aron Chester
(USA)

My graduation party ideas have been based around a BBQ.

I have been to Australia with my family and just loved the friendly, outgoing people. I wanted to replicate that in the party.

We will be at the beach and have a nice area in mind.

As well as fixing up some banners, balloons and setting out a table we plan as many Australian themed decorations as possible.

We have organised koala and kangaroo soft toys.
We have blow up boomerangs, picture of Aires Rock, fake didgeridoos, pictures from all round Australia with boards to put them on, an Australian flag, Australian rugby tops and cricket tops. My family are also making bunting in Australian colors.

Food will be simple but plentiful BBQ style.

I hope to have games that lifeguards would do. Races, swimming races, Australian trivia, and a sing a long.

Since we are being based at the beach it seemed good to base our graduation party ideas on a BBQ

I will be asking the guests to come in any Australian style they wish. Expect lots of lifeguards, rugby players and cricket players.

Further Ideas

Your Australian BBQ theme does seem like a great one. There is no doubt about the friendly, outdoor type party you can create. I would think you will have a fabulous time. Some further suggestions for your Australian BBQ party are:

Invitations

Some wording ideas could be:

Some accessories could be little Australian flags or some confetti. Put an Australian flag sticker n the envelope.

Decorations

  • Pictures of famous Australians like Ned Kelly, Nicole Kidman, Simon Baker, Hugh Jackman and Ian Thorpe

  • Pictures and posters of Australian sports teams like the Rugby, Cricket and Australian Rules football teams.

  • Pictures of Australian coastlines and beaches.

  • Stories of encounters with sharks.

  • Pictures of Sydney harbor lit up for New Year.

Guests can be dressed as lifeguards, wear sports jerseys and hats, and also wear Australian flags completed in face paints on their cheeks.

Favors, there are lots of ideas in this area. They could be mini flags, t-shirts, hats, cricket balls and rugby balls themed on Australia. For an Australian BBQ party you might also give BBQ items like a recipe book and sauces.

Simple preparations can be done by sourcing Australian things as best you can. Easy ones are travel brochures and sporting accessories. Also check on Ebay and see what you can find.

I like Australian graduation party ideas.

My main interest is in crafts. Your invitations could be made of colored card and cut in the shape of boomerangs, Koalas, Kangaroos or Crocodiles.

You could use lots of wonderful Australian terms such as G'day, Billabong, Mate, Barbie, etc.

Hope party goes well!!
