High School Grad Speech

I was just told I need to make a graduation speech at a lunch tomorrow. It is for an Indian Culture Committee of senior citizens who take high school seniors in the area out to lunch every year. I want to address heritage and stuff like that to show the committee we appreciate all they do for us. If anyone could write a rough draft for a speech for me that would be awesome!

Draft Speech

Thank you for asking me to speak today at the Graduation Lunch in honor of the graduates of 2016. Graduation Lunch in honor of the graduates of 2016. Our interest in the graduates and education is a real statement reflecting how we see the importance of community, generations being involved with one another and education.
Our sense of tradition has given us a very strong sense of values which are shared by all generations. The powerful part is the way education is a core part of our values. Indeed our values have produced not just high quality graduates but also excellent people who know the value of our community.

(Here you would need to expand on the values and traditions that make a difference in the lives and education of the graduates.

Reflecting on this wonderful Class of 2016 it is immediately clear what a great group they are. They are very hard working. They meet their educational challenges with a real sense of optimism and they take a great deal of pride in their background. They are a class worthy of your admiration.
(You would need to expand on the real achievements of the class and perhaps give some notable stories reflecting their character. Perhaps they actively volunteer in the community.)

Congratulations to my class, what a great year it has been.
The past few years have seen us learn and achieve so much. The great thing is learning from mistakes has been a valued way to learn at our school. How far would we have come if we had been scared to try things out and make mistakes. Of course the trick is to learn from them and avoid repeating them, however it has worked very well for us.
(Add some personal or class mistakes that have been learned from and what you learned)
Of course there are some great times to remember. The field trips, party nights and that funny story.
The whole class can be very proud of how hard we worked. We all seem to be dedicated, hard working and have that ability to persevere right through tough times. I thank everyone for the help and support I received.
Thanks are due to our parents and teachers. Our parents have been supportive and loving the whole way through school. Our teachers have been amazing. Their way of just getting us to try things, helping with supportive feedback and then making sure we really did know and understand our subjects.
I hope we all take a moment to enjoy our richly deserved graduation day. Before we all head off to our new lives I hope we can enjoy each others’ friendship, be with our families and share in the celebrations of our success. I am going to find it very difficult to say goodbye later.
The future is almost upon us. Our new lives and college and jobs start soon. If we take the approach that we can confidently go forward then we will succeed. Of course there will be challenges and mistakes along the way. However learning from everything that happens will strengthen us as people and help us to do very well.

Reviewing the Past: You might be able to pick up on the values the school uses in teaching and also helping the students grow into rounded adults who know right from wrong. You may have examples when the graduates learned some big lessons in life, how the graduates live their lives, how hard they work, how important education is in their lives, the good things they do in the community, church activities, and of course some of the fun they had.

Celebrate graduation day as a thoroughly deserved celebration of the graduates. They have worked very hard to graduate.

In the future, the graduates can continue to use all the values they learned at school, educational skills they have and their beliefs to make a brilliant future. Following their Christian beliefs will make the future very bright.

Starting the speech has a little formality and then you want to get onto grabbing the audience’s attention. You will want to identify with them and introduce your speech topic.
Use any speech topic and make it your own. Add real detail if you can and personal experiences which help and inspire the graduates. They like any other audience want to relate to the speaker. They will love to laugh at a funny story they recognize, they will enjoy their successful feeling and they will want to be inspired. Keeping it real is best. If they have had big challenges to overcome speak about the. If they have been a real team, working together use that. Maybe they have been great charity fund raisers?
Make sure you mark their special graduation day.
For the future you hopefully can see a way of using the topic to inspire them. Even better, if you have personal achievements and experiences that are inspiring.

Speech content

I was asked last night to be the guest speaker at homeschooling banquet. Banquet attendees are students ages 13 and up with one female high school graduate, parents, grand parents, and a few others. Need to speak in almost two weeks.
Want to celebrate completing high school and encourage and inspire to continue learning.
I am a college graduate, employed, and homeschooling two teens.
I want to get and keep everyone's attention.
Speech needs to be 10-15 minutes. It usually takes me weeks to decide what to say in a speech. That won't give me any practice time. Can you help?

I am very honored to be at the graduation banquet for (name). I congratulate you on your achievement!

I think homeschoolers are a very privileged and even special group. You have been brought up in an excellent learning environment. You have been surrounded by a creative and exciting world. I know just how much you have been nurtured as I was Homeschooled. Education has been at the center of your day. It has not just been a case of learning for a few hours and then off home to enjoy yourselves. You have been introduced to the wonder of the world, the real joy of math and the true impact of beautiful writing, for example. Very importantly you have learned at a pace and in a style that suited you as individuals. I think that gives all of us homeschoolers the opportunity to really learn( not just to pass tests), to express ourselves, to enjoy learning and very importantly to have a lifelong love of learning that will drive us forward no matter what we wish to do.

I do think that the parents deserve to be recognized for their hard work and dedication. They prepare lessons, teach, go the extra mile so we really do learn and they continue to find ways to help us learn. They show enormous patience with you. This has been a true labor of love.

I very much hope you are enormously proud of yourself, (name). You deserve to have this recognition of your achievements. Graduation is such a major milestone. You leave behind schooling and that day to day home environment you loved. You should take a little time to celebrate your success and enjoy being with your family and friends. Every one of us should take time in our lives to take stock of how far we have come and celebrate all the good things in life. Your graduation banquet is a wonderful event. Congratulations to you (name) once again.

Learning in this great country of ours is vital. We will continue to be faced with new challenges, new technology, new ways of working, new colleagues, and new ways of doing business. You will be able to make the best lives for yourselves by continuing to learn. College will stretch your intellectual capabilities. Your new job, coping with that tough first few months and coping with the number, and complexity, of changes that will emerge over your working life will also stretch your ability to learn and adapt to it all. However I don’t think any simple statement like you must keep on learning can really do justice to the homeschooling you have had and the way learning will positively impact on your life.

Homeschooling has helped you learn effectively so you can learn anything in a good time. It has given you the confidence to tackle any challenge.

You will be able to deeply understand complex subjects and not need to look for quick fix learning. In our increasingly complex world that is a vital skill. Homeschooling has also helped you understand how you learn. As you have to be self sufficient at college, and work, you will be able to create your own learning plans and apply yourself to your task effectively. For me, I felt confident right from entering college that no matter how tough it was I would thrive in my new environment. I learn by trying things out rather than listening or watching a teacher.

Homeschooling taught me that and allowed me to be more hands on. College also requires that you have an in-built sense of self discipline and values. What better environment than learning at home to give you them. I loved being at college and all it had to offer, but I also knew instinctively when it was time to work and when I could play.

The new worlds you will enter have a fast pace and a great rate of change. If you look at the kind of work in which people thrive they are based on learning a complex set of skills effectively and keeping ahead in your area. You can imagine the hugely complex world of a lawyer, scientist or computer programmer, for example. You will be stretched many, many times in your life. However the great thing is you will rise to each of the challenges and thrive in anything you do.

Today we are honored to celebrate the graduation of ______ and privileged to be here at the graduation banquet. You have made a successful start to your life. Your homeschooling has given you the foundations to a truly remarkable opportunity in life. I know you will keep on learning and become highly successful in whatever you choose to do.

Not sure how to start and what to talk about to make it not cliche

I understand your wish to avoid any clichés, Not wanting to roll out the usual speech is admirable.

Finding a new angle can be a little tricky. Perhaps a good way to get started is to think about what really happened to the graduates, what they really did over the past few years, what challenges they faced, what their environment is like, how well they have performed, did they support a charity, what are they doing next, is the class a good team, are there big personalities in the class? They are unique!
Just trying to write a speech that is real to the graduates, they very much relate to it and it kind of speaks for them.
Let me know if you have real material. I am very happy to help you turn it into a speech.
Another way is to choose a speech topic that lets you write something different. Perhaps something that builds on the way inspirational people go about their business or just being yourself no matter what others may say.

Start

Starting the speech can be a little formal but once you get that out of the way you can express yourself. For example:
Principal Merton, Honored Guests, Families and Graduates.
First let me congratulate my fellow graduates, well done class of 2016.
The subject of my speech is Being Passionate About Everything You Do.

You only get to live once so why not live as much as possible feeling passionate about what you do.
Draw out the moments in the past when the class were passionate about what they did. Recognize that life is not all great and the class have also shown the perseverance to get through the other parts of their schooling successfully. Build up real stories and events that prove the point.
Enthusiastically come back and celebrate graduation day. Everything changes from this point. You are all leaving behind school whether you liked school or not.
Look to the future and urge the class to find their passion and go for it.

Salutatorian Graduation speech

The important thing here at the beginning is to know the speech topic and know the time limit you have. You can get to work on the speech from there.


The speech topic should help your daughter make the points she wishes to make. The speech topic should be something she is interested in. That could be making a difference in the world, using education to make a great life or the importance of goal setting. However at Elementary School talking about how great education is might work well.

Start the speech simply with, for example, “friends, we are honored to be here today at our graduation ceremony, alongside our parents, teachers and guests. “

Introduce the topic with a statement “I am going the talk about just how great education is. We have been very lucky to be taught by the best teachers and although it has been hard work at times, we really have been given a great education. “

Link the speech topic to the main body of it by using say a personal statement or story:
“I love being able to read Harry Potter books as I love the stories and I love being able to stick to my budget when we go to the mall.

There is great joy in being able to read good books, talk to adults, count quickly in stores top add up the totals, and knowing some French when we go on Vacation. There has been so much we have learned that will make us great students in the next stage of our education. This learning is also very valuable in our day to day lives. I feel much more confident in everything I do.

The excitement at the results of our education do not stop at Elementary School, wonderful though it has been. The next stage of our education may seem a real challenge. However our enthusiasm to learn will see us through. We are very well equipped to do well as we go forward and we will do well. We will enjoy the fruits of our education as we become more confident learners who will love being educated people. Beyond that we will enjoy using our education to build a great life following our favorite careers.”

This is a suitable time to thank everyone and recognize the love and support of the families. There may also be some recognition due to members of the class who have been exceptional in some way.

The Future: “As we prepare to leave Elementary School I think we are right to do so with great hope about the future. School will be excellent for us. We are confident in our abilities. We can learn anything if we work hard and we will love each success as it comes our way. Look ahead to an exciting future with growing confidence.”

Ending- round up the points made and bring the speech back to graduation. EG “I hope we all enjoy the graduation we thoroughly deserve. Good Luck Class of ___”

The Class of 2016 has been a very successful class and I congratulate you on your Graduation -Well Done.

My theme for your graduation is about Taking Initiative, Getting In The Game and Finding Your Passion.

This may seem a lot but it does have a real sense of how you can live to your absolute best in the future. You have, of course, successfully done much of this already. I think looking back at how well you have performed these past few years gives so many clues about what does and does not work for you in the future. It also gives us a chance to heap lots of praise on you!

Clearly from the start of your schooling everything you did was prescribed by someone. Your daily routine, what you learned, homework, when you played and what you had for lunch was laid out exactly for you. The great thing is that you got to try so many things to learn, sports, games, art and hobbies that your participation helped you find the things you loved. You found great friends too. All really by getting into the game and finding out what you loved, just by trying things out.

By the time you arrived at High School things had changed a lot. Along with increasing freedom comes responsibility. You have been in charge of how much you concentrated in class, you decide how hard you work (with parental encouragement of course), you worked your way through difficult times, when there was too much work you made the time to keep up by sacrificing things you like and you chose your final subjects to reflect your absolute best guess about your real interests and where your future may lie. You should be very proud about all you have achieved.

Of course like every stage of your life having a great support network is vital. None of us can succeed alone. You have teachers , parents, friends and mentors to thank for their support, patience and going the extra mile to help you succeed. There is a good lesson in their positive impact on your life and just being someone to talk to at times. You will drive your own success in the future but you will also need a great support network.

Today is a major milestone on your lives. The fact that it celebrates your successful conclusion of high school is enough. You really do deserve to celebrate the end of a long road at school with many, many hours of working hard to become graduates. At times I know graduation can seem a long way off but you really have done it! I can see how proud your families are and recognition is a wonderful thing. Today also brings to an end your time here. Everything you know is at an end. You must say goodbye to your high school life. However today you also get to anticipate, with a huge amount of excitement, the future. There are so many good things to come for all of you.

The future is there for people who participate in it. There is a great quote:

The world will not have a formula for your success where you follow a prescriptive path. You must seize the day, take action and create your own path. When you were younger you just got into the game and used your experiences to find what you loved. Once you found the things you loved to do your passion drove you forward. Perhaps even more so, when you are figuring out your best college degree and a lifelong career, does the idea that you must find your passion hold true. You must take the initiative and get out there to find your best way forward.

Taking the initiative lets you determine what you do. Never be afraid to take the initiative – you don’t need to wait for direction from others. You choose where you direct your attention. You choose how much effort you put into each part of your life. Why not put your effort into great things.

You will work perhaps for 40 years. Much better to do something you are passionate about. Confucius said “Follow your passion and you’ll never work a day in your life”.

The world will reward the passionate person who is taking action to pursue their dream.

I am honored to be here speaking at your graduation. So, let me firstly congratulate the class of 2016 – well done. I remember being here just a few years ago for my graduation. I don’t think I quite appreciated what it meant in total. However it sure was a great time.

My speech topic is Moving Forward, which may seem a little strange since I am going to talk a bit about the past few years, before going on to the future.

In a way you have always been moving forward. Right from the start at school you have faced new challenges, grown up each year, made new friends, evolved what you think and how you see the world, learned new subjects, matched increasing expectations and found new ways to have fun. The fact you have graduated means you did at all successfully!

That is not to say these have been simple years, easily explained by keeping moving forward. I can testify that you have worked extremely hard for many years. The school has high standards, not just for you but also for the teaching staff. You will have worked each week to keep up with increasing demands. Graduating from this school shows your determination to succeed and should give you enormous pride and satisfaction. Each new term the school raised the stakes and piled on the hard work, but here you are – you have done it. Sometimes you will have felt a real pressure to succeed. But you handled that too.

One important point to make though is how you moved forward. Someone once said “the journey of a thousand steps starts by taking the first one”. No one tackles every challenge in front of them all at one time. We break it down and tackle each step one at a time. Also we all try to keep moving forward. Life has lots of setbacks and we cannot just stop and give up. We do not need to freeze in the face of difficulty, we just need to keep going. We keep our minds focused ahead and don’t get distracted.

I hope you have also had time to enjoy each day. There are so many great people, places, events, adventures and fun all around you if you take the time to look.

I wish also to mention the teaching team. This is a team totally dedicated to your success. They work very hard and do so much more than their job requirements. I know how proud they are of you all. A big thanks to the teaching staff.
Just to mention your families. I am sure many have made a lot of sacrifices to help you.
After all your hard work it is important to have your moment of recognition and celebration. You thoroughly deserve your graduation day and all the party celebrations you have planned. I hope you enjoy every bit of it all.

If we set a simple plan with points where we can take stock of our progress then we give ourselves lots of opportunity to celebrate. The celebrations will fuel your desire to go on to the next steps.
This idea that we keep Moving Forward can drive us on to a good life. We don’t need to be stuck thinking about things too long, we just move forward and see how it works.

Life has some very big challenges so we need to move forward no matter what the outcome. We must find a way to cope with success and failure . No matter what happens we are still valuable human beings and should simply keep going. Henry Ford said “obstacles are those things you notice when you take your eyes off your goals”. From that I think you can see that moving forward is the best way.

We must break down our challenges and take life one step at a time. That way we can combine working hard, playing, enjoying life and of course celebrating!

Moving Forward is so much fun too. New cities, friends, vacations, parties, pursuits, family members, home technology to enjoy, and food to enjoy. Move forward and enjoy the experiences as they arrive.

Perhaps the greatest moment of your lives is to graduate as an RCMP. Congratulations to you all.

graduation speech

I need ideas! I'm trying to find some way to make it personal, but it's really hard. I have ideas that are bunched together at the moment, but it's not perfect or final yet. I still need to add a lot and make changes to it.

I am writing to talk about how every obstacle we've faced, we've gotten through it and college is going to throw plenty at us, so like they can do it.

If you like the idea of using the real challenges faced by the class to show how they coped with them, rose above them, dealt with more than one big challenge and did not give in, and have used those experiences to become strong people and a united class then you have a winning topic. The best test of the topic is to now write out the real events and see if the material touches you in the way you want. I hope you can do it.

Even if it does not quite work out you might be able to use your material to create a speech based on learning from mistakes or even the power of goals, for example.

Let me congratulate the Class of 2016. You have made it through the education system with some style and really are a credit to yourselves and your families.

I am extremely thrilled to be here at your celebrations. Graduation is such a major milestone in your lives.

I think that education is the cornerstone of our lives. The best, although not the easiest, way to create long term sustainable improvements in your lives and the lives of your community is education and the best way to take part in it for your benefit is to be educated.

You have been a lucky Class in that you were able to stay in education through the whole K1 to 12 system. This improved education system was designed to transformational and was put in place to develop you as people, which in turn would develop the community and the whole country. Sometimes that is hard to believe. However just imagine the determined graduate who studies business at college. They do well and start their own enterprise. They spend money at the stores, they employ people who feed and clothe their families, they provide healthcare and also a great place to work. People are happier, healthier and wealthier than they would have been without this graduate.

Perhaps now by looking back over the past few years you can understand what education has done for you. You have grown up at school with the help and guidance of the teachers, and your parents. You have taken part in a structured education program which has taught you Math, Languages, Physics, Chemistry, History, Geography, Health, Art, and Crafts, for example. You have had work experience and also been given the chance to develop your communication skills. You have an excellent per group around you and will have made friends for life. You have faced up to challenging times, learned how to persevere and also learned how to learn anything.

However it is not just what you did at school, many of you go out and volunteer with charities, mentor younger students, help with family chores, have part time jobs and contribute to your family’s budget. Already you are starting to see tangible evidence of the development of your selves. Think back to the over-awed youngster who started high school. Now think about the talented, confident people you are now. The work you do in the community is already noticeable and soon your talents will help develop the whole nation.

Before looking ahead let’s take a moment to celebrate your Graduation Day. Graduation is a major milestone. Today you say goodbye to everything you have know these past few years and congratulate you on your success. You have worked so hard and really do deserve your praise and your celebrations. Perhaps like me you like that feeling you have inside of knowing that you worked very hard and achieved something worthwhile.

The future is as bright as you want it to be. You have been given the gift of a great education and now you really can choose to do something powerful with it. You may be starting a job and you can give your best at it, making money and contributing to your local area. You may be going to college and can set your mind to being the best you can be there. Certainly your education so far will make you a very good student with great potential. In later years you will be our nurses and doctors, police officers, fire fighters, government officials, teachers, business leaders, scientists, engineers and builders, for example. Business is a global affair these days. You are not just competing with your peers but also with graduates from other countries.

All of you will be able to develop your nation by being the best in your field. Our country needs us all to continue to educate ourselves and be competitive in a global market place.

Hello! I was invited po as guest speaker sa commencement/graduation for high school this coming march 31 na. The theme is "Kabataang Mula sa K to 12, Tagapagdala ng Kaunlaran sa Bansang Pilipinas". I'm really having a hard time making one since wala ako msyado idea sa k to 12 and honetly, im not really good at making speeches. mas okay po sana kng kahit taglish nalang para mas maintindihan ako, ung may interaction sa tagapakinig and my humor. sobrang maaappreciate ko po ung tulong nio po. thank you in advance.

I am thrilled to be here with you and honored to be sharing your special day. Graduation Day is very exciting. I remember being just where you are in 2001 and my experiences here helped shape my life for the better.

I am here to talk about how your education will transform the lives of you, your community and your country. This is quite a topic to understand but it really does have the simplest of ideas behind it. Your education can give you the chance to do great things for your family, friends, community and country. I decided I would love to be a nurse and used education to get me my dream job.

You might already have some ideas about the job you want. Just think of the fire fighter who saves a life or the police officer who keeps their community safe. These people have been through the education program and used it to help their local community. As a nurse helping to keep people healthy and save lives I can tell you it feels amazing!

Thanks to your teachers you have learned Math, Languages, Physical Education, Health, Geography, History, Reading and Computing, for example. You have also learned how to learn so you can confidently go ahead to the next stage of your education. Indeed your country has developed a whole education program to take you right through to Year 12 where you will be able to pick the best careers and colleges. You have also been able to help with charity work. Some of you collected money, others gave your time as volunteers. What a privilege.

Just think back to the quiet, shy children who started Elementary school. Now compare who you are now after only the first few years of your education. You have developed into confident learners, skilled in your subjects. Education really has given you a lot already. In turn you have given your best. You have worked hard, kept trying, followed your teacher’s advice and helped each other.

Already you will be doing some wonderful things. You are helping your family, perhaps with shopping or chores, or helping friends with their homework. There are so many things you are doing now because you have worked hard at your education.

An outstanding Class like yours really does deserve your success. I think it also entitles you to celebrate and Graduation Day is a wonderful way to do that.

Congratulations to all of you. The Class of 2016 is a talented, successful group. Well Done!

So, what lies ahead for you as you go through the rest of your schooling?

Well, why change a winning formula? As you follow the K1 to 12 educational path, simple but highly effective steps are laid out for you to guide and help you through your education. Using the magic ingredients of an educational plan, great teaching and your hard work, perseverance and helping each other you will continue to have many more successes. You will be given the chance to help your school, class and community so we can all grow and develop together. For example you can take part in charity work, try out work experiences, raise money and help your family.

I know that education gave me everything. Not just qualifications, but also a sense of belief. I knew I could, through hard work, qualify as a nurse and be able to keep learning new skills. I go home every day after work feeling so happy about the help I have given to my patients. However I also know that you need to work hard and have fun too. I hope you stay healthy, fit and happy. Time with family and friends is so important!

You will be amazed at how much you can achieve if you follow the educational plan. Just imagine what you would love to do in the future. Dream of being a doctor, lawyer, police officer, business owner, government official, sports person, actor, ballet dancer, TV presenter or Indy Car driver, for example. Imagine confidently communicating with people all around the world. Use your dream to help you work hard and achieve many more successes. Education will help you develop into wonderful people who can give so much to others too.

This development will in time help your country too!

The future for you all is very bright. I know we will see you take your chance and flourish in the future. Good luck when you start your new school. I wish you all the best!

I have some initial ideas scoped out below. They clearly need to have the real events, stories, challenges, triumphs and funny stories added so that the speech is real to the graduates, and their families.
Congratulations to Class of 2015. What an achievement! You have run your own race and passed the finish line.

You’ll readily identify with the race analogy as we have used your own personal race as our way of viewing how you have gone through your time here at school.
Every athlete will tell you about their preparation for their races. They train very hard, maximise their own personal strengths and work on their weaknesses. They all go through difficult times when they just need to grin and bear it, maintaining their perseverance until the end. They work with the best coaches and mentors they can find and get the support they need from family and friends. Athletes don’t just work hard at their preparation, they also learn to race from practice. They build the personal and mental strength to be a great racer. They become positive, driven and clearly focussed on their goals. However they are also human so there is time to have fun, relax and just be themselves.
I can think of no better way to think about the personal race you have been. You have all worked very hard, set clear, personal goals and persevered until you made it over the finish line. I hope you are very proud of yourselves. We have stretched you constantly to be the best you can be. However without your own personal drive nothing good would have happened.

I trust the amazing teaching and support team we have here. They have supported you, coached, you, mentored you and gone the extra mile to be sure you achieved your personal best. I thank them for their hard work and skill. I look forward to working with every team member each and every day. Thank you!

Let’s all celebrate graduation the way an athlete does. Graduation is your own personal podium with a cheering crowd as the national flag is hoisted and the national anthem is played, all in honor of you personally. Take that special moment to reflect on how far you have come, your achievements and what this day means to all of us. This is one of the most memorable times. Of your life!

School gives you a set curricula and you are challenged to race in many categories. The best athletes run only the race that suits their abilities. The marathon runner is dedicated to their race and bit by bit improves. They do not try to be a 100m sprinter.

In the future you have the opportunity to run your own race in an event that suits your skills and abilities. Choose your future path wisely and get the best out of yourself. Remember to run your own race. You will always be in the company of people with different ability levels. Achieving your own personal best is the only way ahead.
Remember the lessons from school. Get good teachers, coaches and mentors. Work very hard and set goals that drive your forward. Drive through the finish line in every race. However also remember to stop after the race, take time to celebrate your achievements and party with family and friends before you go on to the next race!

I am of course very happy to help. I would need quite a bit of information to help build the speech.
The main thing is to make this a speech that is unique and personal. I am sure you have an excellent story about why you became a teacher, how you applies yourself to your work, challenges you faced and the joy of being a fully qualified teacher.
Let me know what grade you teach, why you wanted to be a teacher, the added value you give the kids, the fun things, how you work within the education system, parent feedback you have and any messages you want to give.

Just to give a start here I would be looking at the characteristics that make someone want to be a teacher, the esteem teachers are held in, the amazing achievements you can have, the children you have and will help, the lives you build in others, the way you think about adding even more value, the dedication to the job, the way teachers just feel they are in the right job and have a real passion for it. The thing I don't yet have a feel for is the point in someone's life when they decided to teach. Perhaps you had a teacher who you saw as a real role model, often a very talented teacher can inspire others to teach.
