08 college grad cake

st pete grad cake

Rolled foundant and gum paste is what we used to make the decorations for the top of cap. Under fondant we used cereal rice krispies for cake we used basic white cake 3 layers with a cream cheese frosting between layers. For the cap cake it was a basic cake recipe we made adding cocoa powder to turn it into a chocolate cake. Frosting was a buttercream in between 2 layers of the chocolate cake, this took about 8 hours from start to finish but the results were worth the effort

Relief
by: Janice

Great ideas girls, such a relief to find a cake I can actually make! Now we just need to plan when we will make them before graduation!

Chocolate
by: Lilly

Girls, I love the cake too. However I need to cater for a bunch of chocolate fanatics who will only love a chocolate cake. The star toppers could come from our local candy store who have chocolate lollies wrapped in different colored foil. I may be able to get them to add Congratulations Stella to the wrapper. Sorry to copy the ideas here but I do need some inspiration to get started!

School Colors
by: Katriona

I agree, this is a great cake. School colors for my kids are green and yellow. My plan is to have a green cap featured right in the centre with white frosting complimented by green and yellow stars. Unfortunately there ill be 30 people eating the cake so it will be a big one. Need a bit of help I think.

Agree
by: Bryony

Like Gina I agree. Your cake looks wonderful and the way you have made it, it will taste great. We might add a few Oz style decorations like a little flag or baby Roo but the rest will be very similar.

Wonderful
by: Gina

This is the most wonderful graduation cake with really simple instructions. I love the way you have added lots of colors, which I presume are school colors. Our school here in Australia has blue and gold colors so that caught my eye. Especially I love the blue cap and the way you have added the star toppers. I had wanted firstly to create a cake everyone would love to eat but seeing this shows how great a cake can look and taste too. I will be telling my friends to take a peek at it.
